BusinessKorea // Intel's 3D Cross Point Memory Alarms Samsung, SK Hynix Chip makers like Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are keeping a close watch on Intel's 3D cross point memory. Since Intel's announcement on July 29, Samsung has mobilized its networks throughout the world to try to understand the technology. According to industry sources on Aug. 5, 3D XPoint technology, which is similar to next-gen ReRAM or PRAM technology, has completely changed the approach to cells that store information. Experts in the semiconductor industry believe that Intel's new technology will bring a big change in the market nearly 30 years after Toshiba showcased NAND flash memory for the first time in 1987. This technology makes it possible to store 10 times as much data as DRAM and to improve the speed and durability of memory by 1,000 times compared to NAND flash. More: |
