As a person who spends every December looking to buy stocks that have been temporarily depressed by tax loss selling, I can state that Vie would not be a good candidate. I look for stocks that have traded much higher than their current price for a long time and which have little near term good news likely. In addition the best candidates are trading at very low prices prior to tax loss season. Those stocks get pushed down on decent selling and little interest from buyers. They then tend to bounce back quickly in January. VLE, is not likely to generate enough tax loss selling to overwhelm buyers, especially given the expectation of near term news. So tax losses selling is the least of my worries.
